When you put a Llama Networks data SIM into a cellular router, the router usually needs the correct APN (Access Point Name) to get online. While most of the APNs will be automatically populated, in some cases you will need to manually populate the APN for the plan. This article lists the APNs to use and shows where to enter them. It's written for cellular routers and gateways, not phones.
What an APN is
The APN tells the cellular network which gateway your data session should use. Phones and consumer devices usually detect it automatically, but routers, IoT gateways, and SIMs on private or MVNO plans sometimes need it set manually. If the APN is wrong or blank, the modem may register on the network but never actually pass data.
APNs for Llama Networks data plans
Use the APN that matches your plan or SIM below. If you're not sure which plan you have, contact us and we'll confirm.
| Plan / SIM type | Underlying carrier | APN |
|---|---|---|
| Llama T-Mobile Unlimited, 300GB, 100GB | T-Mobile | iot.t-mobile.com |
| Llama T-Mobile Unlimited with Static IP | T-Mobile | static.iot.t-mobile.com |
| Llama Verizon Unlimited 5G | Verizon | V5GA01INTERNET |
| Llama Verizon Unlimited with Static IP | Verizon | so01.vzwstatic |
| Llama Global IoT Data | Varies | wbdata |
Unless noted above, leave username, password, and authentication blank. Only fill them in if the row specifically calls for it.
Setting the APN on your router
The exact menu varies by manufacturer, but the idea is the same: open the cellular WAN's settings, set the APN to Custom, and enter the string from the table.
- Peplink / Pepwave: see our detailed guide, Configuring a Cellular APN and SIM Failover, for the exact steps (including per-SIM APNs and dual-SIM failover).
- Other routers: look for a Cellular, Mobile, or WAN section, choose a manual/custom APN, enter the string, and save. The modem will re-register.
After saving, confirm the cellular WAN gets an IP address and can pass traffic.
If data won't pass after setting the APN
- Double-check the APN spelling exactly as listed (APNs are case-sensitive and space-sensitive).
- Confirm the SIM is activated on your account and not suspended or over its data cap.
- On multi-SIM devices, make sure you set the APN on the correct SIM slot.
- Reboot the modem/router after changing the APN if it doesn't reconnect on its own.
